Residents urged to clean up Mexborough ahead of Queen's birthday

Residents are being urged to don their cleaning gloves and spruce up Mexborough in time to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

Town folk are invited to take part in the national ‘Clean for The Queen’ campaign to clear up the country’s streets in time for Her Majesty’s official birthday in June.

Residents are invited to meet outside Mexborugh Library on Friday, March 4, at 9.30am. Areas to be cleaned up include Wath Road, the canal area, Adwick Road and Highwoods. Youngsters from Mexborough Academy have also agreed to clean up the area around the school.

Councillor Sean Gibbons, who is organising the event, said: “Come along and help us to make our town look presentable.”

Gloves, litter pickers and refreshments will be provided on the day.
