PC Stevie Kent from Doncaster said: “This is quite an unusual method of breaking into someone’s home and, by causing this damage, it’s possibly quite noisy so I’d ask anyone who hears or sees anything suspicious in their local community to give police a call.

“There are number of things you can do to further protect your home and garage from intruders, including parking your vehicles as close to your garage doors as possible to prevent any access.

“You can also look at fitting additional locks – in one of the reports, the suspects were unable to gain access as the resident had fitted extra locks on the inside of the door.”

If you hold any information about incidents of this nature, or believe you know who may be responsible, please call police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 324 of July 17 2016.
