The Quirkus Project is holding its first evening gig on Monday May 14 at Doncaster Trades Club in the Frenchgate Centre.

‘A Drawer Full Of Memories: An Evening with Ian McMillan and the Quirky Choir’ promises to be a humorous musical celebration in honour of the Quirky Choir’s 20th Anniversary.

The title of the evening has been inspired by the creative work of Barnsley poet Ian McMillan in collaboration with the Quirky Choir and the Singing for Memory Group in Doncaster. Together they have created a very quirky set of songs all about memories.

Pat Cassidy Quirkus Project Secretary said: “Drawers feature prominently – and for good reason. What bits and pieces would you find in your drawers? What memories do they hold? This is a wonderful initiative that has been funded by Arts Council England.

“For those who might be interested, the Singing for Memory Group meets every first and third Monday of the month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at The Point, South Parade, Doncaster. It is a friendly, fun, and supportive singing group for people living with dementia and their family and friends.

“Sessions are free and include a free tea and coffee.

“If you enjoy singing and want to get involved, then join the Quirky Choir every Wednesday during term time 6.45pm to 8.45pm at The Point, South Parade, Doncaster, We look forward to seeing you.”
