Customers at Doncaster Lakeside Village Bedeck store are snapping up 4.5 tog summer quilts to make sure they get a good night’s sleep over the next few months.

Deputy store manager Daryle Shortland from Bedeck said: “The sunshine has certainly brought the shoppers out. We’ve had an influx of people in store buying ‘summer’ quilts.

“It is amazing the difference having the right tog quilt for the temperature can make to the quality of your sleep. A higher tog is not just about a thicker duvet, Tog ratings refer to a duvets ability to trap warm air.”

Increased temperatures can make it harder to sleep well, which can have a detrimental effect on health, relationships and work.

Centre manager Cheryl Sadler said: “We all know that a good night’s sleep is important and it may sound obvious but many of us are guilty of not making this simple change.

“At this time of year we see lots of shoppers buying new lower tog summer quilts and making sure that their sleep is not disrupted by the heat.”

A 4.5 tog quilt is recommended for warmer nights and the general advice is that on extremely warm nights, replace the duvet completely with a thin bed sheet.
