SCHOOLCHILDREN have been invited to form a Guard of Honour for Olympic athletes.
Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College are one of 250 schools invited from all nations and regions across the UK to support the 204 competing teams of London’s 2012 Olympics.
The eight pupils selected for the Guard of Honour opportunity are those who demonstrate the Olympic and Paralympic values on a daily basis both in and around school.
The Weston Road-based school is supporting the athletes of Bangladesh, which the pupils have been learning about.
Youngsters will be designing their own banner and holding lanterns as they cheer on the athletes making their way from the Athletes Village into the Olympic Stadium for the Opening Ceremony.
Balby Carr will also be supporting the same country for World Sport Day on Monday, June 25 as it prepares for a Skip2bfit challenge with our partner school in Bangladesh.
