Pupils at a Doncaster primary school have been sent home to self-isolate after a positive Covid-19 test was confirmed.

Youngsters at Hatchell Wood Primary Academy School in Bessacarr were told this morning that there has been a coronavirus case in the Year 5 bubble.

In a message to parents, headteacher Jeremy Harris said: “We were informed this morning of a confirmed case of Covid-19 which means that we have had to close a Year 5 class bubble.

"Following the advice of the Department for Education and Public Health England we are able to continue with all other classes in the school. School is still open.

It is understood pupils had turned up for the start of the school day this morning, only to be sent home.

The school in Plumpton Park Road is the latest in a long line of Doncaster schools where pupils have been sent home because of coronavirus.
