MEXBOROUGH residents are to be consulted on the best ways to protect the town’s old buildings and monuments.
Doncaster Council has conducted an appraisal on the Mexborough Conservation Area giving details of how the authority intends to protect buildings within the zone.
Such buildings within the conservation area includes the Montagu Arms pub, Old Market Hall, The Royal Electric Theatre and the Congregational Church.
Council officers have spent the past year carrying out a review of the historical features that make the area special.
In the coming months, the public will be asked how they think this area should be protected.
The appraisal document will be available to view on-line at www.doncaster.gov.uk/conservationareas when the public consultation launches in the spring. Hard copies will be placed in the town library.
