Jewellery was stolen in the raid in Shirley Common, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire, on October 17.
DI Shaun McElheron described it as ‘an awful attack’ and has issued a nationwide appeal for details on the culprits.
“We are looking at whether they have travelled from elsewhere in the country, such as South Yorkshire,” he said.
