A supporter of Sheffield’s St Wilfrid’s Centre clocked up miles and cash for the charity by completing a coast-to-coast cycle.
Father Darren Reid, a catholic priest from Denaby, Doncaster, is currently the vice-rector of the Catholic seminary in Valladolid, Spain, but completed the gruelling challenge during a recent trip back home.
Together with his brother-in-law Simon Gannon, Father Darren cycled from Crosby, on England’s west coast, to Cleethorpes, on the east coast, in three days.
Halfway through the course the duo stopped at St Wilfrid’s, a centre for vulnerable and socially excluded adults in Highfield, where they were welcomed by cheers from service users and staff.
Cash raised through the cycle will go towards the building of St Wilfrid’s residential centre which will help people most in need to develop social skills and hopefully gain employment.
