Preview: Toulouse v Doncaster

The Dons will face their toughest League One test of the season in tonight's game in Toulouse, says head coach Gary Thornton.

Thornton, who has also seen video footage of other games, took in the unbeaten French club’s game against Hunslet Hawks at the South Leeds Stadium last month and came away impressed.

“They are full-time and whilst they aren’t the biggest of sides they are very athletic,” said Thornton ahead of the top-four battle.

“They are also very clinical and tend to punish mistakes and can also quickly turn defence into attack and they are things we’ve got to be aware of tonight.

“They also play off the cuff quite a bit at times but in the footage I saw of their game against Barrow they didn’t play with an awful lot of structure when the Cumbrians got into them.

“We are under no illusions it’s going to be tough because they aren’t unbeaten for nothing and they are one of the promotion favourites.

“But we’ve done our homework and we’ve highlighted some weaker areas we feel that we can expose and it’s certainly a game we feel we can win.

“It would certainly be a huge boost to our chances of finishing in the top four, and thus having four of the seven games at home in the play-offs, were we to win it.”
