Pontefract League round-up: Hooton Pagnell secure first league win
Hooton Pagnell secured their first win of the season in Division One by beating Frickley Colliery by two wickets, writes Paul Goodwin.
Joshua John claimed 4-56 as Colliery posted 212-8 from their 46 overs.
Hooton lost two of their first three batsmen for ducks but Luke Lodge (55) held things together before the middle to lower order dug in to secure victory.
Alwyn Dyke (39), Richard Blanshard (30no) and John (29) made vital runs to help the vistors home with nine balls to spare.
Newly-promoted Brodsworth Main are fourth in the table after a five wicket win at home to South Kirkby - their third win from four games.
Craig Richardson, Josh Bell and Mason Warren each took three wickets as the visitors reached 164 all out.
Bell completed a man of the match performance by making 54 with the bat to help guide Main to victory with two overs to spare.
Alex Snaith also made 44.
Bottom side Hatfield Town were thrashed by ten wickets at Ackworth.
Win-less Town were bundled out for just 79 before the home side’s openers took just 11.1 overs to complete victory.
Askern Welfare also struggled with the bat as they went down by 85 runs at Fairburn.
Jeff Morton took 3-27 to help restrict the hosts to 195 all out.
But no Askern batsman reached 20 and they lost wickets at regular intervals to fall to 110 all out.
Barnby Dun lead the way in Division Two following a convincing eight wicket win at home to Crigglestone.
The nine-man visitors could only muster 103 all out. James Copley claimed 3-40.
Paul Dykes led Barnby Dun to victory in 20.2 overs by carrying his bat for 54.
