Mr Farage met with the town’s three Brexit Party candidates – Surjit Duhre, Paul Whitehurst and Andy Stewart at the party's campaign headquarters in Bennetthorpe.

The trio are aiming to unseat Labour MPs Rosie Winterton, Caroline Flint and Ed Miliband in Doncaster Central, Don Valley and Doncaster North – although support for the party has collapsed in recent weeks according to opinion polls, with voters appearing to switch their support to the Conservative Party.

Mr Farage has targeted Doncaster as a key area for his party, hoping to capitalise on the area’s 69% Leave vote at the 2016 referendum.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson have also visited Doncaster with other high profile politicians also targeting the town.
