POLICE have taken to the buses to crackdown on vandalism and other anti-social behaviour.

South Yorkshire Police has teamed up with bus firm Stagecoach as part of an operation which saw plain-clothed officers travel on services in Denaby.

Officers travelling on the ‘trojan bus,’ which did not stop for passengers, confiscated alcohol and dealt with 12 loutish teenagers.

Police were also able to deal with a neighbour dispute and a suspected burglary while on patrol.

The crackdown was part of the three week Neighbourhood Alliance project.

The project operates across the borough and sees police team up with council. health and fire bosses to reduce crime in a specific area over a three week period.

Sue Hayes, operations director for Stagecoach Yorkshire, also said: “We were delighted to work with South Yorkshire Police on this operation to make the roads in Denaby safer.”
