Police executed a series of warrants across Mexborough on Tuesday morning as part of an ongoing operation to tackle ‘gang-related criminality’ in the town.

The raids come after 10 members of the Pitsmoor Shotta Boys gang, which originated in Sheffield, were jailed earlier this year for offences including violent disorder, drug possession, witness intimidation and robbery.

Three people have now been charged following the raids.

Coban Sheridan, aged 20, of Schofield Street, Mexborough, has been charged with possession of a controlled drug.

Kyle Shaw, 23, of Oak Court, Mexborough, has been charged with drugs trafficking.

And 19-year-old Adrian Foster, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession with intent to supply.

Insp Richard Collingwood, from the Local Policing Team, said the raids had been carried out as part of ongoing police efforts to tackle ‘gang-related criminality’ in the town.

He said: “In addition to the warrants, officers from the LPT carried out high visibility reassurance patrols to offer advice and support to the wider community.

“Our efforts to crack down on illegal activity in Mexborough will continue so we can make our town a safer place to work and live.”

Karen Johnson, Doncaster Council’s assistant director of communities, said: “We support the police’s approach and have a key role in providing reassurance to communities and preventing individuals becoming involved in this type of criminal behaviour.”
