A police search is underway for a man who picked up a teenage girl in a car in a South Yorkshire street.

Officers in Doncaster are investigating reports of an incident in which a man in a small, metallic blue car drove onto Victoria Road, Mexborough, got out of the vehicle and a teenage girl got in.

South Yorkshire Police said they want to ensure the wellbeing of those in the car.

The man was in his late 30s to early 40s and had short, dark brown hair.

The girl is thought to have been 14 or 15 years old.

PC Mark Szabo said: “At this stage there is nothing conclusive to suggest that any criminal offences have been committed, however we would like to speak to the occupants of the car to ensure their wellbeing.

“If you were travelling in the car, or know anything about the incident, please call us."

Anyone with information about the incident at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 28 should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
