Police reopen A1(M) southbound after serious crash

The A1(M) has reopened in one direction following a serious crash on the motorway earlier this morning.

Police have reopened the motorway’s southbound carriageway between Junction 36 to 37, while the northbound direction remains closed following a serious crash today (Friday, July 17).

Officers remain on the scene and drivers have been warned of delays as a traffic diversion system is still in place.

The incident comes after a lorry burst into flames on the A1(M) yesterday (Thursday, July 16).

The motorway has reopened in the southbound direction from Junction 37 to Junction 36, while the northbound carriageway is still closed.
