Police offer Christmas crime advice

Shoppers will have the opportunity to pick up crime prevention advice while buying their Christmas presents.

Police Officers will be offering crime prevention advice at the Rotherham Interchange in Rotherham Town Centre from between between 4pm and 6pm today (Thursday December 20) with advice on how people can keep themselves safe during the festive period.

Sgt Matthew Frogson said: “During this time of year many people are doing their Christmas shopping, attending work Christmas parties and socialising with friends.

“We would like to encourage people to come along and talk with officers about any safety concerns that they may have in relation to the safety of themselves or their property.”

Police top tips whilst out celebrating: Book a taxi or arrange a designated driver for the return journey home;
Ensure all property including presents are out of sight; check that your house is locked and secure.

Turn Christmas lights off;
Drink sensibly and know your personal alcohol limits.
To stay safe whilst celebrating, stay together and look after one and another. Be careful not to leave your drink unattended
