Police issue statement after body found at Doncaster railway station

A person has died in an early morning incident at a Doncaster railway station.

Emergency services were called to Kirk Sandall railway station at around 6.30am.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Kirk Sandall station at 6.30am this morning following reports of a casualty.

“Paramedics also attended however a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.”

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

South Yorkshire Police said that they were aware of the incident, which is being dealt with by British Transport Police.

Rail operator Northern said that trains between Doncaster and Hatfield were being disrupted by the incident, with services between Doncaster and Hull and Scunthorpe all affected.

There have been unconfirmed reports that the body found was that of a man.

The unmanned station is four miles outside Doncaster.
