Police increase patrols after school incident

Police are to increase their patrols after an incident in a secondary school ended with a teenager going to hospital.

Officers were called to Clifton Community School, Middle Lane, Rotherham, at 2.30pm yesterday to reports of an altercation between pupils.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital, but later sent home. The school is now investigating.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 2.30pm on Monday 18 January following reports a large group of students were involved in an altercation at Clifton Comprehensive School, Middle Lane.

“A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and later discharged.

“No complaints of assault have been received by police and the school is investigating the matter.

“Officers are providing support to the school and there will be an increased police presence in the local area in the coming days. “
