Two motorcyclists are being hunted by police in Doncaster over an attack on a car which left the driver covered in glass.

One of the bikers kicked off the motorists's wing mirror on the bridge between Boat Lane and Mill Lane, Sprotbrough and the other smashed a window of the red Renault Clio.

The 55-year-old driver of the car was showered with glass and suffered a cut to his face.

Officers want to trace the two motorcyclists responsible.

One wore a light-coloured helmet that was pointed at the chin and the other wore a full-face helmet that was red and white.

Police also want to speak to the driver of a white van, believed to have ‘B Smart’ written on the side, who may have witnessed the incident.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At around 5.50pm on Friday 1 July, it is reported that a red Renault Clio was travelling along Boat Lane, Sprotbrough, towards Mill Lane.

"On the bridge between Boat Lane and Mill Lane, two motorcyclists are reported to have travelled alongside the car, with one motorcyclist pulling ahead of the car and allegedly kicking off the wing mirror.

"The second motorcyclist is reported to have punched through the driver’s side window of the car, causing the glass to smash and cut the driver’s face. The pair are then believed to have left towards Mill Lane.

"The driver of the Clio, a 55-year-old man, did not require hospital treatment but has been left shaken by the incident."
