Chief Constable David Crompton said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an officer on the frontline. In some ways, the role has changed significantly since my days as a PC but at the heart, the aims are the same - to tackle criminality and provide a safe South Yorkshire for us all to live in.

“There are many policing challenges at the moment, but we want to ensure that South Yorkshire Police is in the strongest position possible for the future. We are therefore looking for the best candidates who share our commitment to serve our communities.”
