Police appeal for witnesses after traffic collision in Wentworth

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were injured, one seriously, in a traffic collision in the Wentworth area of Rotherham this morning.

Just before 6.30am today (Wednesday 3 July) a silver Ford Focus was travelling on the B6090 Cortworth Lane towards Hoober when the driver appears to have lost control on a right-hand bend and the car has crossed onto the oncoming carriageway.

The Focus was then in collision with a white Skoda Fabia travelling in the opposite direction towards Wentworth, five hundred yards the Angel Lane side of the junction with Coaley Lane.

The driver of the Focus, a 28-year-old local man, sustained a possible broken right leg. He was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital and detained for treatment.

The driver of the Fabia, a 31-year-old Maltby man, received treatment for whiplash at Barnsley District General Hospital.
