A turtle-y different evening meal out

x

As a little bit of a foodie (well, OK then, I enjoy mucking around in the kitchen and coming up with my own creation), like anyone, sometimes I like to let others do the hard work for me with a meal out.

Now, I know Turtle Bay has been around in Sheffield for a fair old while now, but I’ve not darkened its doors for food (although I did drop by a few months back for a quick drink).

I’m a lover of all things Caribbean food wise, so the decor, the music and the vibe all helped perfectly to take away from the fact it was hammering it down outside.

OK, the former NUM building at the side of the City Hall might not conjure up images of down town Jamaica, but a few Red Stripes and some goat curry were enough to whisk me away to sunnier climes for an hour or so.

My dad, who was accompanying me for the evening, was equally impressed – but then again, he’s never been one of these types to opt for roast beef, Yorkshire puddings and apple pie and custard when there’s far more tempting and intriguing things on the menu.

Nicely spicy without being unpalatable, the dishes hit the spot perfectly.

If you haven’t had the chance to pop by yet, do. Just do it on a sunny day if you want the full on Caribbean feel.
