The Doncaster siblings, along with their mum Chrissie Wunna, will spend Christmas Eve giving out gifts to the homeless people on the streets on Doncaster.

Proud mum Chrissie said: “The idea came when Ruby, aged eight, and Junior, age six, encountered a homeless gentleman named John, whilst they were walking back from the Christmas market.

“They stopped to talk to him for 20 minutes because they liked him. He even showed them how to play with the slinkies that they had just won at the fair. It made his day.

“The children were astonished at how little respect other people had for John, as passersby ignored him and disregarded him like he didn’t even exist.

“So, they decided they wanted to help make a change and help other people, who are less fortunate than themselves, and who are on the streets this Christmas.”

This Christmas Eve, the trio will be walking around Doncaster, and also Leeds, to hand out helpful gifts and treats to the homeless by hand, in support of charity Shelter.

Ruby said: “Christmas should be a happy time for everyone so I’m excited to go out and meet the people who need our help. That way they know that someone cares. Junior and I have a lot, so we can definitely share what we have.”

To help them on their gift giving mission, Chrissie has set up an online donation page where she is asking people to give money that she can use to buy the Christmas gifts.

She said: “The children hope to raise as much as they can to help the homeless, and they can’t wait to walk through the streets this Christmas Eve to surprise the people in need of help, so please show your support.

“Plus, if anyone has any warm clothes or useful items that they are throwing out, throw them our way.
