Helen Hopwood will strip off for the Channel 4 show where contestants go naked ahead of actually going on a date with potential suitors.

And the 36-year-old from Norfolk Park says she has discovered a new found sense of confidence after appearing on the show, which was filmed earlier this year under Covid-secure conditions.

She said: “Appearing on the show has given me a real buzz. I’ve had some body issues in the past.

"I’ve never worried about my body itself because I keep in shape at the gym, but I’ve had worries about my face and how I look before. Going on the show was a great experience and I would do it again.

"And I’d urge anyone in the same boat to do the same.”

Helen, who has been single for two years, was urged to go on the programme by 12-year-old daughter – but admits she had no idea what she was letting herself in for.

"I’d never seen it and had no idea what it was about, so it was a bit of shock.”

At her audition, she had to strip naked in front of producers – and admitted to downing a few glasses of vodka to give her a little bit of Dutch courage.

But the coronavirus pandemic put the show on hold and it wasn’t until September this year she went nude as the cameras rolled as one of six female contestants hoping to land a date with the naked, male picker.

Added Helen: “I’ve always been on dating sites, so this was taking it to the next level.

"Of course it’s nerve wracking, but it’s like when you get out of the bath naked and look at yourself in the mirror. I just had to remember that I was doing it with a load of people watching me!”

And it isn’t her first TV appearance – she was a contestant on ITV quiz show Goldenballs a decade ago.

The show will be screened on Channel 4 at 10pm on Tuesday when viewers will be able to find out how she got on.
