Four new NHS Recognition Awards have been introduced for 2020/21, with voting to be held internally at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust

NHS heroes are not just doctors and nurses, but the staff who support them, the fundraisers and volunteers too, and their unique contribution will also be celebrated at the awards.

Suzy Brain England OBE, chair of the board at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), said: “This pandemic has been an extraordinary event in the history of the NHS.

"I am pleased and proud to have seen the response of our loyal and skilled NHS employees.

“Every part of our health service has rallied to protect patients and save lives.

"It is marvellous that the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and its members are now thanking this amazing effort from our NHS Team. Thank you.”

The awards, which typically take place in December and have been rescheduled for March 2021 due to the pandemic, will provide the opportunity to honour both the NHS and the business heroes in the region as leaders and the business community have kept the economy moving against a backdrop of increasing pressure.

The four new awards will recognise ‘Compassionate Care’, ‘Unsung Hero’, ‘Outstanding Contribution’ and ‘Community Hero’.
