Half of women and two-thirds of men in Doncaster have had ‘beer goggles' sex, survey says
Half of women and two-thirds of men in Doncaster have had ‘beer goggles sex,’ according to a new survey.
It found that three-quarters of women (72%) and even more men (84%) in the town had admitted that booze had made someone they had not previously fancied seem more attractive.
Two-thirds of women (68%) and 87% of men said they were more likely to sleep with someone on a date if they had been drinking alcohol.
Lots of daters have been wearing beer goggles during the pandemic with a quarter of women looking for love (24%) and a similar number of dating men (27%) saying that they had broken Covid rules while dating over the last year.
The results are from a new survey by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s leading affairs site.
It looked at the celebrities of both sexes who are the most popular ‘beer goggle’ pin-ups in the UK.
The dictionary definition of beer goggles is the ‘phenomenon in which one’s consumption of alcohol makes physically unattractive persons appear beautiful.’
The survey found that 52% of women and 64% of men have slept with someone following a date when they were drunk even though they did not fancy their partner.
It found that a third of women (32%) and a quarter of men (24%) had regretted having beer goggle sex.
Despite these findings, 67% of women and 84% of women like to drink alcohol on a first date.
The main reason both sexes hit the booze is that it ‘helps to break the ice’ - chosen by 71% of women and 86% of men.
Most men (79%) and the majority of women (65%) said they felt more confident after a drink.
IlliicitEncounters.com’s Jessica Leoni said: “Lots of people in Doncaster are getting ready to properly date again as lockdown ends and many people are going to be a bit rusty after a year of restrictions.
“What better way to get in the mood and put your date at ease by having a few drinks while you get to know each other.
“Beer goggles are a good thing and dating would be so much duller without alcohol. It shows up the real person much more quickly and helps daters to decide early on whether they want to go to second base with a new partner.”
