Grieving Doncaster mum launches search to find girl born on exact day as late daughter

Mum Sonica Kaur has launched an appeal to find a girl who was born on June, 9, 2003 - the date she lost her first born daughter Priya.

She wants to treat a teenager to a birthday surprise on the date that her own daughter would have turned 18.

NHS worker Sonica said: "I can't celebrate what would have been my daughter's 18th birthday, so I want to help someone else who was born on exactly the same day.

"It has to be the exact date - not just June 9 - and preferably it will be a girl from Doncaster

"The family must also be struggling financially during these coronavirus times. I really want to do my bit to help someone during these difficult days. I want it to go to someone who really deserves it."

Sonica, now a mum of two, was told during her pregnancy that Priya had developed massive congenital heart defects in the womb and tragically, she was delivered stillborn.

From Hexthorpe, she now has two children - Priyanka and Mehakdeep - but still makes regular visits to her baby daughter's grave at Rose Hill Cemetery.

She said: "My other children obviously get treated on their birthdays and as this would have been a special birthday for Priya, I want to be able to do the same thing."

She has yet to decide exactly what form the celebration for the teenager she finds will take and says she will also consider applications from both boys and people outside the area if a local Doncaster girl can't be found.

Any celebration will also take place after the coronavirus lockdown restrictions end so she can meet the family involved.

A birth certificate and other documents will be required as proof the child fits the description.
