Funeral of 'hugely popular' former Doncaster teacher to take place this week

The funeral of a ‘hugely popular’ and long-serving Doncaster teacher is due to take place this week.

Vera Smith, who taught at Wheatley’s Park Primary School for more than twenty years, died last month at the age of 87.

Mrs Smith was an infant teacher at the school in Parkway South between 1972 until her retirement in 1993.

It said Mrs Smith, of Wheatley and formerly of Beverley, East Yorkshire, died at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on October 27.

It described her as the beloved wife of the late Cecil and a much loved mum to Lesley and Daniel, Sally, Nigel and Anne and grandma to Becky and Tim, Miriam, Bethany, Sam and William and a great grandma to Zeke and Levi.

She was also the dearly loved sister of Shirley and the late Bill.

A private service will be held at Rose Hill Crematorium on November 13 from 3.40pm.
