Family fun day will take place in a popular Doncaster park to raise money for cancer charity
The event is free to attend and will be held in memory of a Doncaster woman who lost her battle with cancer two years ago.
Sandall Park will be the host of a family fun day on July 23.
It has been organised by Natalie Ellender who is raising money for Sarcoma UK.
Natalie, from Armthorpe, said: “Sarcoma is a rare soft tissue and bone cancer that not many people know about.
“Normally when people get diagnosed they don’t live for longer than five years.”
Natalie has a personal connection to cancer as her best friend Lisa Pidgeon lost her life to Sarcoma at the age of 36.
The event will be held in her name and on the second anniversary of her death.
“The event was supposed to take place last year on the first anniversary but due to Covid-19 it had to be postponed,” she continued.
“I’m hoping to raise £5,000 for the charity.
“Before she lost her battle with cancer she was scared that people would forget about her.
“I’m determined not to let that happen and to keep her memory alive.”
The family fun day will include: a fun fair, a BBQ, the Tuneless Choir, a DJ, trampolines, zorb balls, a dog show and more.
“It’s going to be a really emotional day and I feel like she’s there with me,” she said.
“She was a friend for life.
“I knew her from day 0.
“Our parents were good friends and lived on the same street."
