'Even my partner thought I was Sausage!' Doncaster's Sheridan Smith speaks as Masked Singer revealed

Doncaster actress and singer Sheridan Smith says that even her partner thought she was Sausage on TV’s Masked Singer after the winner of the ITV show was revealed last night.

Fans have been speculating for the weeks that the Epworth star of stage and screen was behind the costume on the wacky show.

But after singer Joss Stone was revealed as Sausage and crowned winner of the programme, Sheridan was finally able to address the rumours, taking to Twitter to tell her fans she was ‘flattered’ to be compared to the show’s victor.

While the former Gavin and Stacey star stayed quiet on the rumours while the show was airing, she has now been able to have her say.

‘Well there you have it!’ she tweeted. ‘I am very flattered that for 8 weeks some of you thought it was me, although I do very much love eating chips & sausage with gravy well done Joss Stone!’

The 39-year-old added: ‘And thank you @wossy (judge Jonathan Ross) for thinking I could sing anywhere near as well as @JossStone thank you #MaskedSingerUK.’

She also responded to a fan, writing: ‘If it makes you feel better, even my fella and my manager thought it might be me at one point and that I’d done it on the sly.’

Joss went up against fellow finalists – Robin, who was unveiled as Aston Merrygold, and Badger, who was revealed to be Ne-Yo.

Other contestants to have appeared in the series include Spice Girl Mel B, A-ha singer Morten Harket and former football ace Glenn Hoddle.
