‘Electric’ atmosphere at inaugural awards night recognising family Doncaster businesses

The first Doncaster Mumbler Awards recognising family friendly firms have been held and winners from a number of hotly-contested categories received certificates in recognition of their hard work.

Organised by local online parenting community, Doncaster Mumbler, Alex Cann of Trax FM co-hosted the evening along with owner of Doncaster Mumbler, Caroline Brooks.

Mumbler is an online parenting community providing information for families about days out, events, classes and playgroups in Doncaster and the surrounding areas.

Caroline Brooks said: “The atmosphere throughout the evening was electric.

“Every finalist was there because their customers voted for them to be.

“They should all be very proud as they are clearly doing something right.”

A total of 18,500 people voted for their favourites to win an award throughout September.

During the sell-out awards ceremony at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel, 200 guests, including Damian Allen, CEO of Doncaster Council, supported the well-deserving winners and nominees.

Some of the winners of the categories included Mia Bella in Conisbrough winning ‘Mumblers’ Favourite Retailer’, ‘Mumblers’ Favourite Day Nursery/Pre-School’ went to Little Learners Day Nursery and Deaf School, ‘Mumblers’ Favourite Class or Activity’ was awarded to Baby Bunnies Doncaster and the ‘Eating out with the Kids’ award was won by Sunnybank Gardens.

Baby Bunnies also picked up first place in ‘Favourite Teacher/Child Practitioner’ and ‘Ante-natal/postnatal support worker or volunteer of the year’ categories.

Nichola Caughey, of Baby Bunnies Doncaster, said: “Every one of the nominees were winners.

“We all bring something different to Doncaster for families”.

Over £800 was raised on the night, with proceeds from the raffle going to Light Peer Support, who raise awareness of and provide support for mums with post natal and antenatal depression and anxiety.
