Helen said: “My dad passed away just four-and-a-half weeks after his diagnosis.

“It’s been horrendous and was a big shock.

“I decided to turn something negative into a positive and to help other people.”

She set up YorkshireLassEvents on Facebook in July and has been holding coffee mornings, raffles and fundraising events.

Helen held an event on October 19 at the Carlton Village Hall - a fun day of sports, sponsored by Vision In Plastics.

She raised £570 overall for the British Heart Foundation.
