Doncaster takeaway announces plans to deliver hot food to town's vulnerable people
A Doncaster takeaway is set to continue its ‘food aid’ for the town’s vulnerable community with another delivery of hot meals.
Vijay Swaly, owner of AppetiSingh, has spent lockdown cooking up hot food and then delivering it to homeless people.
And on March 28, he will be making his rounds again, delivering food to a number of the town’s shelters and centres for the homeless and vulnerable.
He said: “I’m wanting to get the word out so we can help more people who are struggling.
“I set up Doncaster Food Aid to help local people who just need a bit of help. Twice a month I cook a hot meal and deliver it to a number of places around Doncaster and anyone who gets in contact.
“Since the pandemic began, I have have been cooking for NHS staff and other key workers just to show a bit of gratitude.”
The delivery will take in Riverside, Doncaster Housing for Young People, M25 and the Restover Lodge.
