Doncaster Sheffield Airport 'open as normal' after plane skids off runway

Doncaster Airport has reopened after closing overnight due to a plane skidding off the runway.

The Astral 747 cargo plane was damaged after running onto grass at the airport yesterday. (Tuesday, July 15).

Photos from the scene showed fire crews and ladders leading to the aircraft’s cabin door.

The airport was closed overnight and planes diverted while a recovery of the stricken aircraft took place.

But a spokesperson for the airport confirmed the aircraft had now been recovered, with flights running as normal.
