Doncaster pensioner, 85, thanks her odd job man who helped her survive during lockdown

Maureen Walls, aged 85, of Woodley Grove, Armthorpe, has cancer, diabetes, is blind in one eye, and has been unable to leave home in 18 months.

But thanks to Dave Hill she has had work done around the home she has lived in for 62 years, work that she was physically incapable of doing herself, and all for nothing.

Maureen said: “I lost my husband six years ago and I have no family so it’s so kind of him to come and help me.”

She said he has mended her shed after its roof came off, put new locks on after someone tried to break in, fixed an outside water tap and a kitchen wall cabinet that came off.

"I just wanted to say thank you,” she said. “In all this badness that’s going on people like him need recognition, there’s not enough people like him around.”
