Doncaster mum launches new interior decor business in lockdown

Mum of three Lisa has always had a passion for interior design and home decor and when lockdown meant she could no longer hold events through her children’s market business Baby Dinosaurs – she decided to take the plunge and launch LH Interiors Ltd.

Lisa’s new business focuses on supplying luxury home decor items and providing an interior design and styling service.

Lisa’s new website is now up and running and she couldn’t be prouder.

Lisa, aged 34, said: “LH Interiors is something which I dreamed of doing for years since renovating and selling properties but never had the courage to do but with the world in a pandemic I thought I’ve got nothing to lose.”

Far from being deterred by the pandemic Lisa used her time in lockdown wisely coming up with a business model that she feels can withstand the current climate and cater to the online shopping trend.

"I made sure the businesses had a good business model and just went from there. It’s clear that shopping online is huge at the moment and it has been going that way for a lot of years, COVID 19 has just accelerated it. So I’m hoping with a good, attractive, easy to use website, with a range of styles and budgets, it will be a success. My motto is you can do whatever you put your mind to, with hard work and dedication.”

From furniture to home accessories Lisa stocks a wide range of homeware on her new website to suit all budgets and styles.

“We cater for a range of styles from small accessories to stunning pieces of art and if people can't find what they are looking for they can contact us directly as we have stockists from around the UK and Europe so we can always find what a client is looking for."

Lisa initially developed a passion for interior design when she moved into her first property in Cheshire and she hasn’t looked back.

"It’s been a huge passion of mine since I rented my first house. I spend hours and hours researching the latest designers and trends. I love finding new ways to make properties stand out and look unique whilst also being practical.”

As well as sourcing luxury home decor items available to buy on the website Lisa also provides an interior design service through her business.

She said: “We cater for all needs, whether it be guidance on how to dress certain areas of your home or to do a complete redesign of a room to suit your budget. We create unique designs to represent families personalities within the home, ensuring it also has a realistic practical living space whilst giving the wow factor.

“We work with experienced talented tradesmen to ensure we can also project manage every aspect, so all a client has to do is simply say yes or no.”

Lisa now intends to run her new business alongside her successful children’s market company Baby Dinosaurs. Through Baby Dinosaurs Lisa has organised markets and events around the Doncaster and North Lincolnshire area as well as doing charitable work and organising an annual Christmas present appeal.

Lisa said: "Unfortunately due to COVID 19 we can’t run any Baby Dinosaurs events at the minute as our footfall could be anything from 250 to 400 people at one time. We have been hit hard however we have continued our local community charity work and will still be hosting our Christmas gift appeal “All Wrapped Up” launching next week.”

Lisa who is currently renovating her own family property in Crowle is running both companies alongside the demands of being a mum to children Scarlett, aged four, two-year-old Sienna and Spencer, aged ten months.

“I’m very lucky I have a supportive family however it can be very challenging at times. So I work a lot at night when the children are in bed. As time goes on, it will get easier and I’m sure I will be able to expand my team around me.”

And when it comes to advice for others thinking of launching their own business Lisa has a few top tips.

"Be clear in what you want to achieve, have a realistic goal to start with and take every opportunity you can. The harder you work the more you will achieve. Be bold and confident in what you want to do and remember marketing, marketing, marketing is key to making any businesses successful.”
