Jason Rodwell will cycle from Doncaster to Wolverhampton on back on August 4 – on what would have been the 30th birthday of his partner Danielle Kenehan, who died in 2018, aged 27.

He said: “I am doing a 200 mile cycle for The Salvation Army because it is a charity that supported Danielle.

“The Salvation Army, specifically the centres on St Margaret's Avenue and Leeds Road in Bradford did so much to support Danielle and I in our times of need.

“They provided food, advice, time and effort when at times it seemed like there was no one else. I went through a period of being homeless, and got to know a few of their homeless workers who walked the streets looking for people in need to try and better their situation.

“They don't judge, they don't force their religious values down your throat in exchange for help. Put simply I wouldn't be alive if this charity didn't exist. And Danielle's life would have been cut a lot shorter than it was.”

“After she passed, they worked with my family to make sure I didn't go the same way. I can't think of a more deserving charity to fund raise for or a better way to commemorate Dani's birthday. “

He aims to raise £400.
