While there, the guys will do everything with her, including going for dinner with her friends, meeting family, going to work – and every day, the woman has to eliminate a different man until there’s one left, who she claims to be her perfect match.

Lou, 29, a plasterer from Hatfield, filmed the show last year – and although the series begins on Channel 4 next week, his appearance is not expected to be screened until much later in the year.

There will be two series of five episodes screened this year, with Lou likely to star in the second series in September.

He said: “I just applied never thinking I’d ever get on with all them beautiful lads out there but I got picked and smashed it.

Filming took place in Halifax and he added: “I am not saying anything more but I did really well.”

Gilly Greenslade, Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 said: “This simple format goes well beyond the realm of a traditional dating show, exploring what people actually want from their partners as well as offering a revealing – and sometimes surprising - insight into the male psyche.”

The series is described as an antidote to traditional dating shows, offering the ultimate test of romance, compatibility and stamina by providing one singleton with five trial live-in boyfriends for a week – all at the same time.

The format fast-tracks the ‘getting to know you’ phase of a relationship and gives the dater a unique opportunity to compare and contrast five suitors in real time.

Five Guys a Week airs from Tuesday 10 March on Channel 4 at 9:15pm, although a spokesman was unable to confirm when the episode featuring Lou will air.
