Doncaster man completes 30 half marathons in 30 days dressed as Mr Blobby

Joey James, 29, pledged to walk nearly 400 miles for the Sepsis Trust throughout the latest coronavirus lockdown – and completed his last 13 miles today by donnning the pink and yellow costume of Noel Edmonds’ 90s TV sidekick.

His exploits have so far raised more than £1,600 for the charity, with the cash continuing to pour in from wellwishers who have supported him on his marathon journey.

Joey from Wheatley took on the challenge in support of his friend’s son Teddy who lost his life to sepsis aged just four months old in 2016.

He pledged to walk 13 miles each day throughout the first 30 days of lockdown – and in total clocked up more than 636km and more than 763,000 steps.

He said: “When Boris Johnson announced a six week lockdown, I thought, how can I use this time productively?

"I do love a challenge so I thought why not combine that with raising money for a charity very close to my mate’s heart?”

He undertook his last walk today, updating people via Snapchat and Facebook throughout the month.

He was supported in the challenge by Teddy’s dad Rob Sneddon and even took in a quick tour of the Frenchgate Centre dressed as Mr Blobby for his final walk during the challenge, which has seen him tackle snow and heavy rain.
