Doncaster garden centre suspends opening after lockdown restrictions are eased

A popular Doncaster garden centre has suspended its re-opening while staff prepare it for socially distanced shopping.

Markham Grange near Brodsworth, one of the area’s biggest and most popular garden centres, was expected to be back in business today after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said garden centres could now re-open.

But a spokesman said: “Unfortunately the opening is suspended as we feel we have not been able to prepare the centre enough to keep our customers and staff safe with such short notice. Please watch for updates.”

The nursery has said that social distancing will be in place throughout the centre, from the entrance to the checkouts.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that garden centres would be allowed to re-open while from today, people can also play sports such as golf and tennis, as long as they maintain social distancing rules.
