A Doncaster family received a great surprise on Wednesday, April 15, when they found out that on the very first time they played the postcode lottery they won £,1000.
“We were just having lunch with the kids in the living room and I got an unknown number calling me,” said winner Karl Wood, who lives on Holmefield Close in Armthorpe.

“She was right because it was the postcode lottery who rang to tell us that we had won.”
Karl is a teaching assistant at the McAuley Catholic High School and has been staying home with his wife and children during the coronavirus.
“We were not expecting to win this was the first time we even entered,” he continued.

“This money means we have a weight lifted off our shoulders and don’t have to worry about finances.
“We have been worrying about how long we would be alright for in terms of money if the virus goes on for a long time but now we know we have this to fall back on.”
Karl says that they are not planning to spend the money immediately but put it away in case they need it.

Karl said: “It was just so nice to receive some good news, especially in the current climate.
“We’ve been keeping to ourselves and only leaving the house once a week to go food shopping.
“It feels as if nothing is happening but this was such a good shock.”
