Coronavirus causes major Doncaster health event to be cancelled

An upcoming health event in Doncaster has been cancelled because of coronavirus, it has been announced.

The event, organised by 4Doncaster Primary Care Network, was due to take place at Rutland House in Doncaster on March 26.

But because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the decision has been taken to call off the open afternoon event.

A spokesman said: “In view of the current situation with coronavirus, we have taken the decision to postpone our open afternoon.

“This will now take place during the summer.”

So far, there have been 456 cases of coronavirus in Britain, with eight deaths confirmed from the killer virus, which originated in China.

There have been no confirmed cases in Doncaster at this stage, although two have been reported in Barnsley, one in Rotherham and one in Sheffield while a number of coronavirus patients from across the country are being treated at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
