The Coral join Feeder on the bill at Doncaster's Askern Music Festival
Indie rock favourites The Coral have become the latest act to be announced for this year’s Askern Music Festival in Doncaster.
The band, whose hits include Pass It On and In The Morning, will join 90s Britpop rockers Feeder at the festival which will take place this summer.
The group, who hail from the Wirral, came to prominence in the early 2000s with their self-titled debut album which fused indie pop and psychedelic rock.
Dreaming Of You was their first top 20 hit and further success followed with Pass It On which climbed to number five and In The Morning, which reached number six.
Their biggest success came in 2003 when their album Magic and Medicine went all the way to number one.
The festival will be held at Askern Welfare Cricket Club on July 11 and their announcement comes after it was revealed that Welsh rockers Feeder will be topping the bill.
The pair will join bands such as Cast, The Pigeon Detectives and Scouting For Girls who have played the quickly rising festival in recent years.
Feeder and The Coral will be joined on the bill by up and coming Doncaster band Bang Bang Romeo who have also been announced.
At their peak of commercial success, Feeder won two Kerrang! Awards in 2001 and 2003 and they were inducted into the Kerrang! Radio Hall of Fame on 9 August 2019, for "Distinguished Services to Rock".
Their breakthrough came in 2001 with their third album, Echo Park, and its lead single, Buck Rogers, which later became a UK top five single.
Sadly, tragedy struck shortly afterwards in January 2002 when drummer Jon Lee died by suicide in his Miami home.
However, the band continued and they released their fourth album, Comfort in Sound later that year, which touched on themes such as loss and coming to terms with death, while also exploring themes of positivity.
Further acts are expected to be announced by festival organisers in the coming weeks and months, with local bands also set to feature.
Tickets are £25 from www.askernmusicfestival.co.uk
