Award nomination for crime writer Chris

Chris Berry’s debut novel Tough Season, a crime thriller featuring rugby league in the fictitious world of struggling club Hopton Town led by player-coach Greg Duggan, has been nominated in the Crime Writers Association’s famed Dagger Awards.

Chris said: “My book has been nominated in the Fresh Blood Dagger award section for authors’ debut novels.

“It’s great to be nominated. It would amazing if it goes any further than that and it appears on a longlist.’

He added that the book allowed him to provide readers with a unique combination of two different subject that are not usually put together.

“I’ve been conducting book signings and in all of them the response has been amazing.

“People love crime thrillers and to have one that includes rugby league is a bit special for those who like the sport, but you don’t have to in order to enjoy the book as the reviewers have said.”

The world-famous Crime Writers' Association (CWA) Daggers, which honour the very best in crime writing, are the oldest awards in the genre. Created in 1955, the CWA Daggers have been synonymous with quality crime writing for over half a century. The award nomination is not the only success for the book. Tough Season has also been at number one in the rugby league books chart on Amazon on many occasions since its release in July.
