Pensioner killed in crash with stolen lorry cab in Doncaster

A man is under arrest this morning after a pensioner died following a collision in South Yorkshire.

Police said they arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, the theft of a motor vehicle and criminal damage.

He was arrested after a collision involving a blue Peugeot 407, driven by an 81-year-old man, a silver Fiat Punto and a white and grey tractor unit with a red trailer, which is believed to have been stolen.

The crash on Stainforth Road, Barnby Dun, Doncaster, happened at 6.50pm yesterday.

Emergency services called to the scene found that the 81-year-old man in the Peugeot had sustained fatal injuries.

A 47-year-old woman in the Fiat escaped with minor injuries.

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 866 of December 14.
