Pedal power for little Leo

Three-year old cerebral palsy sufferer Leo Palmer needs a special trike and physiotherapy to allow him both mobility and independence.

To help sunny-natured Leo towards his goal, a sponsored bike ride will go from Haxey’s King’s Arms pub on Saturday to reach Skegness by late afternoon.

Among the riders will be Leo’s dad Rick Palmer and mum Siobhan Edge will be there to see the cyclists off at 6am.

Siobhan said “The whole family has been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of everybody involved. We are so impressed that people are giving up their time to support Leo in such a challenging fundraiser. We wish them the very best of luck, and look forward to seeing them at the finishing line in Skegness.”

King’s Arms landlady Carol Kemp said: “Leo is a truly amazing child. Seeing the obstacles both he and his parents have had to overcome has been the main drive in organising this race. This is the first time that we have organised an event like this but we are delighted by the response.”

The challenge is supported by local company Green Eco Grants who are providing cover vehicles and a generous donation of £1,000.

Managing director James Loftus said “It’s really heart warming to see such a great effort being made on behalf of such a good cause.

“We’re proud to be associated with such a challenging but immensely worthwhile event.”
