Parramore title hopes hit - Hallam are in the play-offs

Handsworth Parramore's title hopes look to have received a fatal blowwith a shock 2-0 defeat at relegation battling Brigg Town.

It allowed Tadcaster Albion to regain top spot after they beat Garforth Town 1-0 to go a point clear with a game in hand.

Luke Anderson scored both for Brigg but the Ambers had their own chances, having a penalty appeal for hands, Steve Warne forcing the home keeper into a good save, Danny Buttle shooting agonisingly wide just after David Ratcliffe had pulled of a fine save. To add to their woes the Ambers had Kieran Wells sent-off following an off the ball incident.

Parkgate’s relegation battle will go to the final game of the season at Bridlington Town this Saturday after the Steelmen slipped 2-1 at home to Staveley MW.

Josh Moore fired the home side in front, but Mohammed Tijani nodded in the equaliser before Reece Wesley’s own goal means Parkgate will endure a nail biting final day of the season.

Armthorpe Welfare boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 home win over Thackley, Charlie Braithwaite’s low cross being turned into his own net by a Thackley defender and Stuart Preston wrapping up the points 15 minutes from time after the keeper had spilled James Walker’s free-kick to leave Armthorpe requiring one win from the last three games to stay up.

Cameron Rigby scored twice as Maltby Main beat Athersley Recreation 2-0 away to make it three wins in eight days.

Worksop Town made it six wins from seven, coming from behind to beat Albion Sports 3-2 at Sandy Lane with a late double from substitute Matt Booth after Ross Henshaw volleyed home their earlier goal.

Hallam’s final game of the regular season ended in a goalless stalemate at AFC Mansfield, a result that saw the hosts clinch the runners-up spot and automatic promotion.

Ryan Hindley’s side now head to the play-off’s and a trip to Bottesford Town in the semi-final on Wednesday.

AFC Emley also finished goalless at Knaresborough Town ahead of their play-off semi-final against Penistone Church at the Welfare ground on Tuesday.

Penistone warmed up with a 3-2 win at Grimsby Borough Daniel Joynes gave Church a 25th minute lead but the home side came back to lead 2-1 with two minutes remaining. Brett Lovell then grabbed a 90th minute equaliser with Lewis Dickinson hitting the winner deep into time added on.

Sam Beddington 60th minute equaliser earned Dronfield Town a 1-1 draw against Teversal coming just three minutes after the hosts had gone in front.

Rossington Main came away from Eccleshill United with a 1-1 draw after Jordan Hatton’s 33rd minute strike cancelled out the hosts opener seven minutes earlier.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic went down 1-0 to a late goal at Shirebrook Town.

However, its been confirmed that the Briggers have been reprieved from relegation.
