THE theft of copper cables left more than 1,000 properties in Westwoodside without power for over 12 hours.
Police were called in connection with the theft of copper overhead cable which was stolen between Thinholme Lane and Langholme Lane in the village.
The incident took place between 4am and 5.30am on Friday, November 25.
Electricity company engineers worked to reconnect cables and hoped to restore power to all properties by 5pm later that day.
A National powergrid spokesperson said: “This was a metal theft incident which saw the power supply go off at 3.50am and it affected 1,140 properties.”
