Over 100 Santas walked for North Lincolnshire hospice

The wet weather last weekend didn’t deter over 100 Santas striding it out in aid of Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

In its third year running, Santa Stride, saw festive fundraisers of all ages from across North Lincolnshire come together and raise around £2,500 for the hospice on Burringham Road which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses.

The family walk around Central Park was enjoyed by Allison Urch from Bottesford with her two children and friends. She said: “It’s the first I’ve took part in Santa Stride and I really enjoyed it because it it’s a way of giving something back with my children.

“My Dad, Mick Urch, passed away of cancer at the hospice two years ago and I wanted to say a big thank you for the wonderful care they gave.”

Andrew Hirst, organiser from Lindsey Lodge Hospice, added: “It was a fantastic sight to see Santa’s of all ages having a great time and thankfully the weather didn’t put any people off- it just made it even more memorable!

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who turned up and made it the special event it was. The Mayor of North Lincolnshire cllr Helen Rowson joined in the fun too- it was fantastic to see her support.”

During the festive season the hospice is still open 24/7 caring for those who need it most and it costs over £4.50 every single minute. The local charity appreciates every single penny donated because it really does make a difference for creating those last extra special moments.

During the festive season the hospice offers Christmas dinners for patients and free seasonable entertainment to give a little joy.
